Feathered Friends seek residence in Wavendon at Eagles’ Rest

The newest residents at Eagles’ Rest

Milton Keynes housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes has recently had royalty move into the Eagles’ Rest development, for a bit of peace and quiet from Willen Lake.

Eagles’ Rest in Wavendon has seen a spike in visiting waterfowl making the most of the developments attenuation basin, in front of the marketing suite. Mute swans, coots, moorhens, Canada geese and mallard ducks all regularly visit the development which is surrounded by a number of country waterways.

The new residents have gained the attention of homebuyers at Eagles’ Rest as well as the onsite Sales Advisers, who affectionately watch the swans and other birds each day.

The most prominent body of water near the development is Willen Lake which is located four miles away and plays host to a range of leisure facilities, watersports and an outdoor theme park.

With the population increasing in the UK, the mute swan has benefitted from better protection laws in the UK and is a common site across many suburban waterways. This species mates for life and will reside at the territory of the eldest partner. It is thought that the pair who have moved to Eagles’ Rest were searching for a spacious home they could call their own, whilst also being just a stone’s throw away from excellent outdoor facilities where they can see family and friends (although, they’re yet to exchange contracts).

Barratt and David Wilson Homes has a nationwide partnership with the RSPB to ensure that all developments reach certain criteria’s to protect the local flora and fauna. Their Buckinghamshire development will feature bird boxes, bat boxes, bee friendly planting and a wealth of giving resident’s educational tools to transform their gardens into wildlife friendly habitats.

Katy Greenstone, Senior Sales Adviser at Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We see a whole range of wildlife visit our lake from the nearby countryside. We often feed the swans as grains are particularly good for them. We believe they’re visiting from the nearby lake as they’re very friendly and seem to have settled into Eagles’ Rest exceptionally well.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes currently have a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes available at Eagles’ Rest. These homes benefit from a range of features and money-saving initiatives, giving buyers a wealth of opportunities to secure their ideal home.
