Forum cash helps community get active
Residents in Waddesdon will be dusting off their sports gear after grantfunding of £3,000 from their Local Area Forum (LAF) paid for new sports and fitness equipment.
Themoneyhas been used to buy netball, tennis, volleyball, badminton, rounders and walking equipment for local clubs, as well as fitness apparatus such as mats and weights for village halls.
All this will help meet local priorities set by Buckinghamshire County Council’s Waddesdon LAF earlier this year -helping people get out and about to become fitter and healthier.
LAF Chairman Paul Irwin said: ‘We’re a very rural community and there is a much bigger risk that people become isolated.By encouraging people to joinclub activities like these, we’re not only tackling social isolation, we’re also helping their fitness and wellbeing.’
Six of the 14 parish councils and parish meetingswithin the LAF area – Waddesdon, Quainton, Ludgershall, Edgcott, Ashendon and Grendon Underwood – applied for up £500 funding each.
?Simon Garwood, Community Engagement and Development Area Manager, said:’By granting the funding for each parish individually the LAF made sure every area got exactly whatthey needed, which ultimately is of greater benefit to local residents.’
