Could you give a child a fresh start in 2017?
January is a great time to make new plans or start something that you have been thinking about for a while. Is fostering one of those things you have been mulling over but never quite got around to doing anything about?
With more than 400 children and young people in Buckinghamshire looking for a foster home we are in constant need for new people to come forward to become foster carers so now could be the time for you to act.
We are holding two more Fostering Information Sessions in January which offer the ideal opportunity to find out more about what fostering involves and the process to becoming a foster carer. Staff from our First Step team will be on hand to answer your questions and you can take the opportunity to speak to existing foster carers about their experiences.
The sessions take place on:
- Wednesday 11 January, The Hub (ground floor room), Easton Street, High Wycombe, HP11 1NJ.
- Thursday 19 January, Aylesbury Opportunities Centre, Thame Road South, Aylesbury, HP21 8TS.
Both sessions will run from 7pm to 9pm.
Councillor Lin Hazell, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services said: “The decision to foster is not one that is made overnight. It takes careful thought and consideration over a period of time. These information sessions are an ideal way to find out a bit more about the whole process and whether it could be right for you but there is no commitment or pressure to sign up there and then.
“Fostering is a truly rewarding experience and the support available means you will always be close to help, advice or assistance whenever you need it. So, if it is something you have been thinking about doing, don’t put it off any longer, book your place now.”
