Funding helps local businesses upskill their workforce
Aylesbury College has secured funding worth over a quarter of million pounds from the European Social Fund (ESF) to deliver the Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) training programme. The SSW programme seeks to overcome skills gaps and shortages within the workforce by analysing the business need and matching this to the training/qualifications required.
The funding will be used to deliver workplace learning courses across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire to meet individual, employer and regional needs by ‘up-skilling’ the workforce. The project will be delivered in partnership with Avanta Training and Pera Training, to engage with learners and key employment sectors.
Lisa Taylor, Director of Engagement and Business Development at Aylesbury College said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our local employers to up-skill anyone in their workforce over age 19 in a very cost-effective targeted way. This funding will enable employers to choose only the elements of training that they require for their business needs. Individual units can be chosen from any accredited qualification. The opportunity to gain a full qualification if required is also available.
The real benefit of this project is the ability to up-skill employees in very specific areas with a very concentrated approach. This means less down time for the employer and a really meaningful training experience for the employee that can quickly be realised in bottom line benefits for the organisation.”
Courses offered as part of the training programme include those in the Health and Social Care sector as well as Customer Service, Business and Management, Team Leading, Equality and Diversity.
Aylesbury College is really keen to ensure local employers and communities benefit from this opportunity and welcome any enquiries from any employer about any type of training.
