Get your running shoes on for Run Prestwood
The Chilterns MS Centre is encouraging runners from across Buckinghamshire to sign up to Run Prestwood on Sunday 15 May – a 10km or 5km race in the village of Prestwood near Great Missenden. All proceeds go directly to the work of the charity, supporting those with multiple sclerosis.
The family-friendly event starts at 10.30am with the 10k run through the streets of Prestwood. A 5k fun run will follow and fancy dress is very much encouraged! There will also be a children’s event after both of the main races have been completed.
In 2019 over £7000 was raised, which enabled the Wendover-based charity to support many local families affected by MS. But this year they need your help more than ever, by signing up as a runner and getting your friends and family to sponsor you. The pandemic meant the charity had to cancel many of its fundraising events since March 2020, meaning their ability to support people with MS was severely impacted.
“It’s been a difficult time for all charities, but it will be great to see our community coming together again,” said Stella Kubale, Head of Fundraising at the Chilterns MS Centre. “This is a beautiful, flat course which is fantastic for race times, but it is also a really fun family event for all ages.”
The event is kindly sponsored by BWK Solicitors and supported by the Rotary Club of Great Missenden, who provide all of the marshals that ensure the safety of the event. It is also supported by Sprinters Leisure Centre, who generously allow the use of their facilities and have helped to arrange this year’s event.
