Get Your Running Shoes on for Run Prestwood
This year’s annual run in Prestwood has had a makeover. Run Prestwood is the new name for the Prestwood 10k as the event now incorporates a 5k fun run and a children’s obstacle course as well as the popular 10k timed race.
Taking place on Sunday 12 May at Sprinters Leisure Centre, the event raises much-needed funds for the Chilterns MS Centre. This local charity empowers people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) to lead healthier and happy lives by enabling them to reach their goals.
The family-friendly event starts at 10.30am with the 10k run through the streets of Prestwood. A 5k fun run will follow and fancy dress is very much encouraged!
The very popular Children’s Ultim8 Warrior obstacle course takes place at lunchtime. This is a fun event for children aged 4-11 years old. There will be an interschool trophy for the school that has the most entrants and all children who take part will receive a special medal on the day. Entrants for the Ultm8 Warrior must register online to guarantee a place.
Last year over £7000 was raised, which has enabled the Wendover-based charity to support many local families affected by MS, but your help is needed to beat that this year, by signing up as a runner and getting your friends and family to sponsor you.
Andy Graham and his neighbour ran the 10k last year “I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this well-organised race last year and to raise money for such a great local charity. I have seen the work they do and know what a difference they make to someone with MS. I wanted to run in under 50 minutes and beat my neighbour. I was thrilled to come it at 49.19 but wasn’t’ quite good enough to beat Derek. It’s a great event and I will be back as I would love to shave a few minutes off this year, and pip my running rival to the post!”
The event is kindly sponsored by local leasehold management company LMS and is co-organised by the Rotary Club of Great Missenden.
