GP provider for The New Surgery, Tring

Herts Urgent Care has been appointed to provide GP services at The New Surgery, Tring, from Monday 1 February 2016.

This appointment follows the retirement of Dr Hall-Jones on 31 January 2016, after 29 years at the practice.

Herts Urgent Care is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise and a Community Benefit Society, which provides healthcare services to the people of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It runs West Herts Medical Centre in Hemel Hempstead and provides GP out-of-hours cover to the whole of Hertfordshire, along with running the Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS 111 service.

A letter was sent to patients by first class post yesterday, to reassure them that they will be able to access all services at the surgery as normal. A message was been posted on the practice website yesterday and the letter is available in the practice.

Herts Urgent Care will be providing GP services at The New Surgery for up to 12 months. During this time, NHS England and Herts Valleys CCG, which jointly commission GP services in the area, will be asking patients for their views to help the NHS organisations make plans about what will happen with GP services in the longer term.

Dominic Cox, Locality Director (South) at NHS England, said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of Herts Urgent Care for an interim period. This means that patients will continue to benefit from high-quality GP services.

“Patients of The New Surgery don’t need to do anything, because they will still receive services from the practice as usual. However, if they wish to register with an alternative practice, they can find information on local GP practices and the services they offer at www.nhs.uk.”

David Archer, Chief Executive of Herts Urgent Care, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to operate this surgery and will continue to provide a local GP practice with the support and experience of our wider organisation. We put the patient at the start and heart of our care and intend to continue to provide a high-quality service for the patients of Tring. We are delighted that many of the staff currently working in the practice will transfer to Herts Urgent Care and continue to work in the surgery.”

Nicola Bell, Accountable Officer for Herts Valleys CCG, added: “We are sure patients of Dr Hall-Jones would like to join us in thanking him for his services to the people of Tring and the surrounding villages for the past 29 years and wish him well for the future. We look forward to talking with patients about the long term arrangements for GP services in the local area.”
