Helping Wendover’s young chefs
When Wendover Church of England Junior School needed help to purchase equipment for the school’s cookery classes, local mum Jo Richardson, whose daughter is a pupil, asked Harpenden Building Society if they could step in. Jo works at their Wendover branch and the building society, which is celebrating its sixtieth anniversary this year, was happy to fund the items.
On Friday 10 May, Jo sent her boss Gill Pearce (pictured) to the school to see how the children were getting on with the mixing bowls, wooden spoons and rolling pins. The school’s Bursar, Catriona Durrant, commented ‘We are delighted that Harpenden Building Society has contributed in this way, as it assists us in teaching a skill which will benefit these children throughout their lives’.
