Have your say on future for minerals and waste
The blueprint for the future of mineral prospecting and waste management in Buckinghamshire gets its third airing among residents, stakeholders and operators from today (Monday, 10 December) for eight weeks.
The Minerals and Waste Local Plan for the next 20 years aims to ensure a steady and adequate supply of aggregates, and forecasts future waste management needs, taking account of growth set out in the district local plans.
Following the two public consultations and an Examination in Public by a Government inspector in September 2018, the plan has been modified to include greater clarity on the County Council’s approach to waste management across Buckinghamshire, and to the future location of waste management sites.
Changes wereinfluenced by comments from stakeholders during the hearing sessions and findings by the Inspector examining the plan.
Now the County Council wants residents to have their say on the changes through a third consultation www.buckscc.gov.uk/RMWLP whichwill run until Monday 4 February.
Bill Chapple OBE, Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment, said: “It’s important that people have another opportunity to see what we’ve done tobalance the needs of our amenities and our natural and historic environment, with the demands for future mineral extraction, and the need to manage Buckinghamshire’s waste.”
Responses to the consultation will be considered by the Government Inspector, and Bill said that following the Inspector’s final report, the County Council would look to adopt the Plan next Spring.
