Health on the Move van delivering more vaccinations across Bucks next week

Nearly 1,000 COVID-19 vaccination doses were delivered in Buckinghamshire by the Health on the Move van in November – and more are on the way.

The vaccination van returns again to Bucks from Monday, 6 December, and will visit High Wycombe, Chesham, Gerrards Cross and Buckingham, with more stops to be confirmed the following week.

With the new Omicron variant spreading, it has never been more important to get your booster vaccination if you are eligible. Please wait for the NHS to contact you before going for your jab at a walk-in site or booking an appointment.

And if you have still not yet had your first or second vaccine dose, the evergreen offer is still open. Please don’t delay and get your jab as soon as you can.

Next week the van will be stopping at:

  • Monday, 6 December, 10am – 4pm, High Wycombe Cricket Club, London Road, HP11 1DE
  • Wednesday, 8 December, 10am – 3pm, Chesham Market, High Street, HP5 1BW
  • Friday, 10 December, 10am – 3pm, Tesco Gerrards Cross, Packhorse Road, SL9 8ER
  • Saturday, 11 December, 10am – 3pm, Chesham Market, High Street, HP5 1BW
  • Sunday, 12 December, 10am – 1.30pm, Buckingham Youth Centre, London Road, MK18 1AS

The van will be back in Bucks the following week and details of times and locations will be confirmed on the website above.

If you have not yet had your booster or your first or second vaccination and cannot, or are not eligible to, attend any of the mobile drop-in clinics, you can instead book your appointment at: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ or call 119 for free.

If you book using the National Booking Service but then, for whatever reason, cannot attend your appointment, please make sure you cancel or change it using the link above. This is quick and easy and will make sure more appointments are available for other people who need them.

Appointments are now available for anyone aged 16+, and healthy 12–15-year-olds can also get vaccinated by booking online or attending a walk-in clinic without appointment.

Who is eligible for the booster dose?

You will be contacted by the NHS when the time is right to arrange your jab. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) recommends that the booster dose of the coronavirus vaccine is offered to:

  • people aged 40 and over
  • people who live and work in care homes
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • people aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts them at high risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19
  • people aged 16 and over who are a main carer for someone at high risk from COVID-19
  • people aged 16 and over who live with someone who is more likely to get infections (such as someone who has HIV, has had a transplant or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis)
  • People who are pregnant and in 1 of the eligible groups can also get a booster dose.
