Help crowdfund your Community News Company!
Last year, the decision was made to transfer Wendover News into community ownership – a not-for-profit company like the swimming pool and library. That way, the magazine can remain free and work for the benefit of the community – all residents, our many groups, our local economy, and businesses. The last seven editions have been produced by the community volunteer team, financed by the current owner, Wendover News Ltd. It’s time to complete the transfer – but to do that, we need start-up funding…
We need your help.
We plan to do a lot more with Wendover News. The team is three times larger than it was this time last year and the volunteers include media professionals, a career journalist, a software engineer, legal experts, a novelist, a teacher of English and collectively, a rich repository of experience to call upon. Most importantly all these volunteers have similar passions and interests to you, the reader.
Would you like to be able to say that you were one of the people who set up Wendover News for its second life? We have established a crowdfunding page on which you can pledge any sum over £1, towards our immediate target of £5,000. Every pound pledged proves to us that there is a real need and affection for Wendover News. The Lionel Abel-Smith Trust has kindly offered to match every pound that we raise, with another pound up to the target. Can you help us to hit that target, and give Wendover News a further 35 year run as a trusted local news source?
