Help us protect vulnerable people from radicalisation and terrorism
Anyone with an interest in protecting vulnerable people from being drawn into radicalisation and terrorism is being invited to attend a community event hosted by Buckinghamshire Council.
The Prevent Community Roundtable will take place at Adams Park Conference Centre in High Wycombe at 6pm on Thursday 26 May. Prevent is the national initiative set up by the Home Office to protect and support those most at risk of radicalisation and becoming involved in terrorism or supporting terrorism. It also aims to help those who may already be involved in terrorism, to break their involvement.
The roundtable event provides an opportunity for local organisations and interested groups and individuals to hear from officials from the Home Office and to ask questions about the Prevent Strategy. The agenda will include an update on what Buckinghamshire Council is doing regarding Prevent at a local level.
Steve Bowles, Cabinet Member for Communities said: “The aim of our local Prevent strategy is to reach the small number of vulnerable people in Buckinghamshire who are vulnerable to being drawn into terrorist-related activities and to protect and support them.
“We are keen to work with key people and organisations in our community to do this and we would invite anyone with a keen interest in this subject matter to come along to this event.
“Thankfully terrorist activities like the Manchester Arena bombing and the stabbing of MP David Amess are relatively rare but we all have a responsibility to help protect our communities and those who may be vulnerable to exploitation.”
