Homebuilders take part in Oar-Inspiring Charity Race
Staff from local homebuilder Barratt Homes Northampton have taken part in the Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival race to raise money for charity.
Their team, made up of commercial, construction, technical, marketing, land and finance workers, battled against 43 other teams in the race which was set on Willen Lake.
They managed to raise over £1,000 for MacIntyre, a charity which supports people with learning difficulties.
Team leader Laura Green said: “We wanted to raise money for MacIntyre and thought the boat race would be a great way to do it and bring staff closer together.
“Everyone had a great day and it was a lot of fun taking part.”
The team of 15 employees from Barratt Homes took on the challenge in a 40’ boat which had a drummer at the front that beats time and a helm at the tail end for steering.
Andrew Swindell, Managing Director of Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “Our staff pulled together and did splendidly, and we’re all very proud of them and their efforts.”
The homebuilder, which prides itself on creating exceptional properties in the finest locations, is currently building homes at Brooklands and Fairfields in Milton Keynes.
