Hospice charity offers experience of a lifetime to raise funds for local hospice care

Sue Zanker

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity is looking for 20 people brave enough to take on the challenge of jumping out of a plane at 10,000 ft to raise funds for local hospice care.

The charity has free skydive places available in June and September where the jumpers can fulfil a lifelong dream or overcome their fears by taking part in a tandem parachute jump with a professional freefall parachute instructor.

During the descent, the participants will reach speeds of up to 120 mph before their canopy opens and then complete a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air.

Sue completed a skydive for the charity last year in memory of her friend Liz who was cared for by Florence Nightingale Hospice team. Sue says, “Liz knew that I’d always wanted to do a skydive, so when I saw the opportunity, I felt it was meant to be. I chose to raise funds for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity as they provided amazing support to my amazing friend and her family. Their care meant they could all be at home together and have the best quality of life possible. I knew more funds are needed so other families can have the same access to end of life care and support.”

Sue raised over £1,200 for the charity and has gone on to take part in other fundraising challenges.
