HS2 construction workers failing to observe distancing
Since the Coronavirus restrictions have come into effect, Wendover News has been included in messages to HS2 Ltd which contain photos of building contractors for HS2 flouting the restrictions.
Rob Butler, MP has already raised a PMQ on 25 March about this behaviour, see also this link.
Message from Fiona Prior to HS2 Ltd, 25 March 2020:
Dear Sirs
Further to my telephone call logged on 24th March, reference HS2-20-18675-e, I would like to send the photographs, I spoke of, showing workers congregating and working at very close proximity at the site which is in the cornfield that runs adjacent to A413 Bypass and train station, post code HP22 6DQ.
It is deeply shocking and frightening to me that the government and contractors feel it’s acceptable for the contractors to put further pressure on our NHS; that neither lockdown rules nor social distancing rules apply to their staff. These workers should not be put in a position where they have to come to work on non-essential construction such as the HS2 Project. These workers may have vulnerable family and and they are putting themselves, their family, and the NHS at great risk of infection. Work on HS2 is not essential construction work by any means. Work on HS2 must stop immediately.
I have copied into this email to HS2 info line Rob Butler MP for Aylesbury, John Stevenson MP for Carlisle and Jane Larkham editor of the Wendover News. I look forward to all of their replies.
Yours faithfully
Fiona Prior

Dear Sirs
Here are some clearer photos from Crackley Wood, evidence of construction and security workers putting themselves at risk by having to work in close proximity and not observing the social isolation ruling. I will upload as many as possible into this email but may have to send subsequent emails which I know will get your full attention.
I look forward to your replies following my emails and call in to HS2.
John Stevenson and Rob Butler, I look forward to you following up on this and working hard to stop HS2 non-essential work. Mr Stevenson is copied in here as he is my local MP.
Jane Larkham, I look forward to seeing the local media getting behind this and highlighting the risks that people are forced to put themselves under by thoughtless employers looking to continue business as usual and flaunting government guidelines.
Regards
Fiona Prior

Dear Sirs
Here are more photographs clearly showing workers of HS2 that are being put in a position where they are putting themselves and others at great harm in light of the covid-19 government advice concerning social distancing and non-essential construction work. The following photographs are from Dews Lane, off Harvill Road, Uxbridge and were photographed today. 26th March as were my previous email photographs.
Regards
Fiona Prior
