HS2 Monthly Update
HS2 Roadshow:This was a well attended event and we hope that the information and advice available was re-assuring to all who were there.
Enabling Contract: Contracts for this have been let to Fusion JV, a joint company of a number of major construction companies. Their work entails environmental works, demolition, road diversions and work to main utilities. Full details of when they will start on site are still not available but regular meetings with representatives of HS2 and their Contractors have been planned. Any further news will be available in future editions of Wendover News and on the Parish Council’s website.
Community and Environment Fund: This has been set up by HS2 and is being run by an independent organisation, Groundwork. Grants of up to £75,000 are available to Local Community Groups, Amateur Sports Clubs, etc in areas affected by HS2. Full details of this fund can be obtained in the ‘Community and Environment Fund Guidance Notes’ available from Groundwork on 0121 237 5880, by email on HS2funds@groundwork.org.uk or on their website at www.groundwork.org.uk/Sites/hs2funds. Applications must be made directly to Groundwork, and they will decide on the successful applications without reference to Parish or Local Councils.
The Chiltern Society says… We continue to closely monitor the impact HS2 has on the Chilterns as the eight year construction period progresses and work with HS2 review groups in the AONB and in the Colne Valley.
