HS2 Works Notification: Abnormal load deliveries
We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area.
As we move into the main construction phases for the bridges and viaducts in the areas of Great Missenden and Wendover, we need to start bringing in precast steel.
To reduce our impact on the local area and the amount of work taking place on site, many aspects of these bridges and viaducts will be made offsite.
As we move towards the main construction phase for the Wendover Dean Viaduct, we will start to receive deliveries of the steel beams up to 30m in length. Deliveries of this size are classed as abnormal loads.
Our haulier carried out a successful trial run in September, this has enabled us to develop the best possible method of delivery.
The abnormal loads will require short periods of temporary traffic management at four locations to complete their journey to our sites. We will also have escort vehicles in operation to support the load movement to site.
The steel deliveries will take place over the course of a week from Monday 7 November 2022. To reduce the impact on road users these deliveries will take place outside of peak traffic periods.
