HS2 Works Notification: Road closures – Aylesbury A418 Oxford Road, and Finmere A421

We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area.

 

Aylesbury – A418 Oxford Road closures and traffic management

To realign the A418, we need to conduct some localised vegetation clearance and tree felling at the points where the new road will meet the existing A418.

We will be conducting some utility works in the form of trial holes whilst we have the traffic management in place for the de-vegetation works.

The works will include daytime traffic management Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3pm.

However, there will also be a full closure of the A418 for approximately 4 Sundays, from 8am to 6pm whilst we work around the larger canopy trees which span the road that we are unable to access with a normal lane closure.

 

Finmere – A421 closure

In early 2023, we will carry out piling to create the underground foundations of the bridge. In order to carry out these works safely, we will be installing some temporary concrete barriers along a section of the A421. These barriers will protect our staff as they prepare foundation works for the new bridge in the verges.

In order to install the barriers, we will need to close this section of the A421 for one night with a diversion in place.

The A421 will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am beginning Monday 30 January 2023 for one night.

As a contingency, should there be delays to our works, the overnight closure of the A421 will be rescheduled to take place at the end of February 2023, we will update communities accordingly.
