HS2 Works Notification: Wendover – abnormal load deliveries and extended working hours
We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area.
Abnormal load deliveries
As we move into the main construction phases for the bridges and viaducts in the areas of Great Missenden and Wendover, we need to start bringing in precast steel and concrete.
To reduce our impact on the local area, many aspects of these bridges and viaducts are being manufactured offsite.
These deliveries will begin with the Wendover Dean Viaduct, where we will be receiving steel beams. Some of these beams are up to 30m in length (similar in length to three buses). Deliveries of this size are classed as abnormal loads.

Out of hours working (concrete pour)
To continue the construction of the Wendover Dean Viaduct, we will need to carry out a 22-hour concrete pour during Tuesday 21 February, this is to pour the viaduct abutment.
The abutments will form the start and end of the viaduct, and they need be completed in one single pour to ensure the stability is not compromised.
As some of these works will take place overnight, there may be some noise and artificial lighting due to the nature of these works however our team will continue to monitor this.
