I love Wendover prize hamper winners
To launch the I love Wendover loyalty card, Wendover Chamber of Trade and Commerce set up a stall on the Manor Waste during the regular weekly market on Thursday 14 February. Many people had already read about the scheme in the February edition of Wendover News or on the internet so there was steady business all day selling the loyalty cards and giving away the very popular balloons. Nearly 500 loyalty cards were sold on the first day. Badges and car stickers were also available. Loyalty cards continue to be available from most participating businesses.
The winner of the bumper first prize hamper was Graham Watts. The businesses which contributed the prizes to this hamper were: Scruples, Village Environmental Services (Dennis Cook), Number One, Rumsey’s, No 2 Pound Street, The Post Office, Andrew Gardner, a little bird told me gallery, Antiques at . . Wendover
The winner of the second hamper was Alan Myers. The prizes in this hamper were given by participating businesses: Budgens, Cromptons, Ivan Cammack, Harpenden Building Society, Debbie Tolputt, Wendover Post Office to whom many thanks.
Yvonne Bone, chair of Wendover Chamber of trade and Commerce commented, “We were overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to buy loyalty cards on launch day. Nearly 500 were sold in the end. People were also keen to collect a free balloon or two to take home or send to friends and family all over the world. It was wonderful that the hamper prize winners were such well known members of the Wendover community. What a joyous occasion on one of the first warm and sunny days of the year!”
Mel Bird, project leader said, “The idea came from Thame and has translated into a great community feeling here in Wendover. Everyone was very enthusiastic, both traders and card holders.”
