Barratt Homes has welcomed two apprentices to its Fairfields development in Milton Keynes to help them develop their skills and knowledge of the trade.

Ben Jackson (23) and Joshua Jiffur (22) have joined the leading house builder at the Vespasian Road development as they look to begin their careers in construction.

Originally from Northampton, Ben is studying at Stephenson College in Leicester on the NVQ Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery course.

He said: “Barratt Homes’ reputation in the housebuilding industry is unbeatable which meant that accepting the opportunity to learn through them was a no brainer for me.

“I’m really enjoying being on site and putting my skills into practice with the work that I’m doing.”

Having an apprenticeship with Barratt Homes means that individuals start earning right away. Combining hands on work with professional training, apprentices learn the skills that are essential for success and earn qualifications that are useful for the rest of their career.

Originally from London, Joshua is also studying at Stephenson College on the NVQ Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery course.

He said: “Barratt Homes has built a well recognised brand, which is what initially drew my attention to the company and learning that they are keen on training apprentices was an added bonus for me.

“I’m really enjoying learning new skills and understanding more about the construction and housebuilding industry as a whole.

“Throughout the apprenticeship I’m looking forward to gaining the confidence, ability and understanding to work independently on as many elements of the trade as possible during the apprenticeship.”

Andrew Swindell, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We are thrilled that our two new apprentices are enjoying their roles with us and I wish them all the best for the coming years and very bright futures”.

“Our award-winning apprenticeship programme is designed to give individuals the skills, connections and opportunities to start building a successful career.”

Fairfields currently has a range of four bedroom homes available for keen homebuyers to reserve. The homes at the development have been built by an NHBC award winning Site Manager, Roy Kelly and are beautifully designed and built sustainably and responsibly.

There are plenty of schemes house hunters can use to help them when reserving a property at a Barratt Homes development, including Help to Buy, Part Exchange and Movemaker, all designed to make the moving process that much simpler for buyers.

To register an interest in any of the properties at Fairfields, please visit the on-site sales and information centre, open: Monday 12.30pm to 5.30pm and Tuesday to Sunday between 10.00am to 5.30pm.
