Local business focus in the daily council video update
Stories about how businesses are approaching the coronavirus emergency are highlighted in today’s (Tuesday) daily video update (Vlog) from Buckinghamshire Council Leader Martin Tett.
Joining Martin are Gabby Mallett, Director of Gawcott Fields Community Solar Farm, near Buckingham, and Jim Mackellar, owner of Orchard View Farm, near Princes Risborough, who talk about how they have responded to help the Covid-19 effort.
Gabby explains how their community fund opened early this year to support communities during the Covid-19 crisis, among them five local causes helping children, young people and families.
Jim speaks about how his farm shop adapted to remain open with social distancing, supported by a new online shop, a click and collect service, and a take-away facility, but with no cafe service.
Gabby says: “Coronavirus happened and we thought, is there something we could do that would support community groups who are going to be most affected by the virus?”
Jim says: “The café was 70% of my turnover and was closed overnight, so I had some tough business decisions to make.”

The daily Vlog, supporting the message #ProudofBucks, also provides an opportunity for people to ask questions via social media on how the council is fighting Coronavirus locally, what residents can do to stay safe, and how they can get involved in helping others – using the #askBucksCouncil Twitter hashtag.
Vlogs will also be shared daily on the council’s social media channels.
