Local charity invites supporters to celebrate a successful 12 months
Tuesday 12th April marks the one-year anniversary of the reopening of retail shops across the country after the second Covid-19 lockdown and Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity is inviting customers, old and new, to pop down to one of their local shops and help them celebrate their first full year of trading since 2018/19.
The charity saw some of its shops shut for the full year during the pandemic, which also saw many of their fundraising events cancelled. But since the reopening, their shops have seen over 120,000 customers and sold well in excess of quarter of a million items!
Lily Caswell, Head of the Retail at the charity tells us, “We are really grateful to everyone who has supported our shops over the past 12 months. We’ve had a really busy year – much busier than we could have hoped for – and this was so welcome after the shop closures and challenges brought about by the pandemic.
“Sometimes over the last twelve months, it has felt like we were holding our breath fearing there would be another lockdown or restrictions, but instead it’s been a fantastic year with lots of brilliant donations and happy customers. Thank you to everyone who has donated or shopped with us, and of course, thank you to our phenomenal retail staff and volunteers who have worked so hard to get everything back on track. Our shops being open and doing well means we can raise more money to provide the best hospice care for local patients and their families.”
You can visit any one of Florence Nightingale Hospice charity shops today to join their celebrations – there are nine shops to choose from across Buckinghamshire, and over the border in Chinnor and Thame.
