Local children hit the stage raising over £55,000 for Hospice charity
Following a week of intensive half-term rehearsals, over 100 local school children have taken to the big stage at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for a very special charity production of Nativity! The Musical. Raising money to fund local hospice care, the one-night extravaganza, which took place on Sunday 30th October, kicked off the festive season in style with a buzzing sell-out crowd and plenty of ‘sparkle and shine’.
Mandy Fox, who came along to watch her granddaughter in the show said:
“It was a wonderful performance; the cast were amazing and should be so proud of themselves. It was a magical and very moving evening and has really opened our eyes to the services offered by Florence Nightingale Hospice and the work they do in the local community.”
Produced in partnership with Bucks Music Trust and supported by Madam Vanda Plastow and William Harding’s Charity, the project brought local communities together for a spectacular one-night-only performance that raised over £55,000 for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity to provide local hospice care.
Amy Dunstall, Community Fundraiser for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity and directing the project said:
“We did it. I always believed in this project and in the cast, and they smashed it! With only a week to rehearse, the children took the challenge in their stride and absolutely surpassed all our expectations.
Emotions ran high after the show with feelings of relief and excitement, many children and parents already asking to do it all over again. This production has meant so much to so many people.
To our teams of costume helpers, van drivers, parents, chaperones, cast, sponsors, musicians, tech team and the whole direction and production team – we all did it together. Thank you, it really was something special. “
