Local community gets behind charity’s final Midnight Walk
Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity’s final Midnight Walk is on track to be a record-breaker, thanks to the support of local businesses, groups and individuals.
“When we announced that this would be our final Midnight Walk, we didn’t know what the response would be,” says Claire Redrup, Fundraising Manager at the charity. “But we have been overwhelmed by the love and support which has been shown for the event and we are thrilled to be on track to break all our records for attendees and money raised, which is so vital for the local patients and their families who are supported by the Hospice.”
And it’s not just the number of walkers involved which will make this year’s event a success. Local organisations and businesses, many who have been involved in previous Walks, have come forward to support the night in different ways.
Buckinghamshire Freemasons are the main sponsors of this year’s event, having been involved with Midnight Walk from the beginning, providing marshals each year to keep walkers safe and on track along the route.
ASM Metal Recycling have sponsored this year’s commemorative T-shirts, acar2go have sponsored Walker Numbers and Bucks Radio have sponsored the medals which will be given to every Walker as they cross the finish line.
Local estate agents George David and Harpers have also got on board to help promote the event across Aylesbury and Wendover.
“Getting sponsorship and donations from businesses helps keep our costs down and means even more money goes directly to the Hospice and the services we fund. We are very grateful for the level of sponsorship and donations we have received this year,” says Emma Carroll, Corporate Partnerships Manager.
There is still time to be part of the charity’s Farewell Midnight Walk, a 5 mile or 10 mile walk around Aylesbury, starting at midnight on Saturday 16th July. Online booking for the event closes at midnight on Wednesday 13th July or you can register from 10pm at the event on 16th July at Aylesbury College.
