Local Face: Freddie deMonte
Freddie moved to Wendover just before his first birthday in 2005 with his parents Tim & Kate and his brother Josh. He enrolled at Little Acorns Kindergarten and worked his way through John Hampden Infant School, Wendover Juniors and is currently enjoying school life at the John Colet School…..well as much as a 13 year old boy would enjoy school anyway!
At the age of five, Freddie joined the local Karate Club, where he trained 2 to 3 times a week. After 5 years of dedicated training and many dan gradings, Freddie successfully managed to achieve the grade of black belt. Having reached this milestone he turned his attention to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and joined the McLeod Academy in Aylesbury where he is currently studying various martial arts such as Muay Thai and Combat Submission Wrestling to name a few.
Freddie also has a passion for rugby where he represents both the school and also Aylesbury Rugby Club. His school PE teacher Mr Anns has really encouraged the boys in his year to join the rugby club and as a result they have managed to compete strongly at the Emerging School Rugby sessions held at Aylesbury RFC last term.
At the age of 10 Freddie started to get into Dance Music after watching an MTV documentary about international DJ David Guetta. For Christmas that year his parents bought him some Pioneer DJ Decks and from that moment on he fell in love with DJing! He spends hours on end learning various DJ mixing techniques as well as everything there is to know about the Electronic Dance Music industry.
In November 2016 Freddie performed at his first event, a friend of the family’s 50th Birthday party, which gave him the opportunity to play live in front of an audience and at the same time earn some pocket money! Next up he was asked to DJ at the John Colet School fundraiser which helped raise money for pupils to take part in the World Challenge in Nepal. The disco was a great success and as a result Freddie was asked to become the John Colet resident DJ, performing at 3 more school discos. On holiday on the Greek Island of Mykonos, he managed to persuade the resident DJ at the World famous Tropicana Beach Club to let him join him on the decks and play a set. During the stay he also managed to get exclusive entry into the Cava Paradiso Club which hosts some of the biggest DJs in the world.
Over the last couple of years Freddie has been lucky enough to DJ at numerous events and parties, including a young Italian lady’s 21st Birthday, which proved to be a real challenge given he had to build an entire Italian playlist. He also performed at the Aylesbury Cheerleading Academy summer presentation ceremony and recently played a set on the beach in Goa, India on Christmas Day.
As a result of DJing Freddie has managed to save enough money to buy new decks, top of the range speakers and an array of lights.
On top of DJing Freddie spends time producing dance music using various music production software and hopes that one day he will produce a chart topping hit record.
In March this year Freddie started DJing live on I’m In Radio, which is an online digital radio station based in Watford. The station invites DJs from around the UK to showcase their skills live on air. They also run an Academy that teaches young DJs the art of radio presenting, music production, sound engineering, graphic design and lyric writing.Freddie really loves the adrenaline rush of playing live and enjoys spinning a wide variety of genres, from Hip Hop to House, Rare Grove to Grime, Drum & Base to Dub Reggae.
Freddie plays live on air every Saturday between 12 – 1pm so if you’re looking for the latest tracks or want to sit back and listen to some classics, tune into www.iminradio.comFreddie is really looking forward to playing a set or three at Wendover Celebrates in May and hopes everyone has a great time listening to his tunes! For bookings please contact Freddie via:
