Local Face : Martin Hannelly
The Fremantle Trust just announced the appointment of a new manager for its care home for older people in Wendover. Martin Hannelly, 36, was selected to the post and took up his appointment on 16 April. Residents Audrey Gregory, Ettie Kazar and Joan Skinner; who had been on the interview panel to select the post were there to welcome him.
Martin started his working life as a chef with Trust House Forte Group, where he stayed for 5 years. He then changed career direction and became a night staff member at a home for older people in Bletchley, gaining his City and Guilds qualification in management foundation and advanced management during this time. Martin has worked for Fremantle for 12 years and was most lately assistant manager at Farnham Common House.
“It seems like a lifetime ago since I started working for Fremantle, but it has always been my goal to become a manager and the training I have received from our NVQ centre has enabled me to develop significantly and to achieve my goal. I believe that in my role as manager it is imperative to ensure that the residents at Winterton House are supported in a way that enables them to exercise control over their lives and continue to make their own choices; as well as making them feel safe, comfortable and at home.” said Martin.
“Martin has always been a well respected and valuable member of our care staff, said Carole Sawyers, Chief Executive, “He is well loved by our residents and has worked hard to achieve the necessary qualifications to move into a management role. He will make an excellent Fremantle manager.”
