Local Homebuilder branches out to celebrate National Tree Week

In the past year, the homebuilder has planted or retained 27,382 trees and shrubs at its developments across the county, with open rural spaces being an important part of building a community at David Wilson Homes’ developments.
National Tree Week from The Tree Council runs from Saturday 23rd November to Sunday 1st December and includes a number of organised activities, from tree dressing and planting to woodland walks.
Jason Hearn, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “Open spaces are an incredibly important part of creating a new community, meaning our developments are more than just bricks and mortar but leave a lasting legacy for the future generations.”
The Tree Council is one of the UK’s leading charities for trees, promoting their importance in a changing environment and working in partnership with communities, organisations and government to make trees matter to everyone. As the coalition body for a diverse range of organisations, the Council focuses on getting more trees, of the right kind, in the right places; better care for all trees of all ages and inspiring effective action for trees.
National Tree Week is an annual campaign full of valuable and accessible events, inspiring around a quarter of a million people to get their hands dirty and collectively plant around a million trees*.
While David Wilson Homes strives to plant or retain an average of 20 trees, shrubs and climbers for every home it builds, throughout the year the housebuilder is devoting even more attention to the week of this campaign in order to highlight the positive impact of planting trees.
