Local MP Celebrates English Tourism Week in Bucks
Rob Butler, MP for Aylesbury, celebrated Buckinghamshire’s contribution to UK tourism today by visiting local sites and businesses to mark English Tourism Week 2022. Rob began the day with a visit to Lacey Green Windmill. Dating back to 1650, it is the oldest smock mill in England and is managed by the Chiltern Society. Next he went to the Chiltern Yurt Retreat in Wendover. Located at the foot of the Chilterns, it is an eco-friendly glamping experience that’s proving incredibly popular with visitors from home and abroad. The third and final stop was the Carter Company in Aston Clinton. The firm specialises in planning ‘slow-travel’ experiences focused on exploring and discovering areas at a gentler pace, especially by cycling and walking.

“Buckinghamshire is a fantastic destination for visitors, with historic sites, stunning scenery and excellent places to stay and eat. I was delighted to celebrate our local contribution to tourism today, whether it be cultural heritage, unique hospitality or innovative travel expertise. Tourism plays an important role in the local and national economy and it was good to see how firms are developing their business after the Covid pandemic.”
