Local MP welcomes big screen back to Bucks

Aylesbury MP Rob Butler has welcomed the return of indoor entertainment in step three of the lockdown roadmap, as he visited the town’s ODEON cinema, due to reopen on Monday (17th May).

Rob said:
“In a sign of the success we’ve made fighting this virus, local people can very soon head back inside some of Aylesbury’s favourite attractions, enjoying not just our excellent bars and restaurants, but our town’s cinema too.

“I’m very pleased that the ODEON – repurposed as a pop-up vaccination clinic earlier this year – will be welcoming film-goers again. This is a sign of real progress, and I was pleased to meet the cinema staff today to hear how they’re preparing to reopen safely as well as thank them again for their help with our local vaccination effort.

The third step of the lockdown roadmap means from next week, cinemas and theatres can reopen, up to six people or two households can meet inside, and pubs and restaurants can offer indoor table service. To help reduce the risk of Covid-19, visitors should expect extra measures, including social distancing and face-coverings.

Rob added:
“The team at ODEON explained to me how they have enhanced their cleaning measures, will be staggering start and finish times of films, and are reducing capacity inside their auditoriums. I know other local businesses are working equally hard to ensure their customers are as safe as possible as they reopen.

Chris Peeke, ODEON Area Manager, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be reopening. ODEON Luxe Aylesbury is an important pillar of the local community, and our team can’t wait to welcome guests back to experience the joy of the big screen in our luxurious recliner seats.”
