Lord Lieutenant and Chairman welcome three new Honorary Aldermen
Between them they have dedicated over 55 years of service to Buckinghamshire County Council and yesterday (Thursday 23 November) they were rewarded for their efforts by being appointed Honorary Aldermen of the county.
Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher presented certificates at the full council meeting as County Council Chairman Patricia Birchley read out the citations.
Speaking afterwardsPatricia Birchleysaid:“Val Letheren, Avril Davies and Margaret Aston have all devoted a large part of their lives to serving the people of Buckinghamshire so it is only fitting that their dedication and commitment is recognised and rewarded in some way.”
Val Letheren and Avril Davies collected their certificates from Sir Henry butsadly Margaret Aston was unable to attend due to ill health.
Margaret Aston is the longest serving of the three having first joined the council in 1993 and only stepping down in May this year. Val Letheren and Avril Davies both served for 16 years each.
In the role of Honorary Alderman the three former councillors will each serve for two council terms as County Council ambassadors, supporting the Chairman and Vice-Chairman in civic duties.
