Lorraine Izon – Muir Trust Artist in Residence
Bucks County Museum is delighted to welcome ceramic artist Lorraine Izon as the 10th Muir Trust Artist in Residence this summer 27 July – 21 August. Lorraine is a wonderfully creative potter, painter and printmaker based in East Anglia who takes her inspiration from the shapes, forms and patterns found in nature.
Lorraine’s current work focuses on bird forms where her simple yet strong shapes allow the birds to come alive through intricate patterns and textures. She will be visiting local wildlife areas to draw nature diaries from which new sculptural pieces will emerge. Lorraine is also planning a community project whereby museum visitors can make nature inspired tiles for a group artwork at the museum.
Visitors are welcome to visit Lorraine during her free weekly open studios sessions from 1pm -5pm on Wednesdays 29 July, 5 August, 12 August, 19 August.
She will also be holding a full day workshop for adults on Saturday 8 August (10.30-3.30pm) where participants can design and make their own wild life inspired clay sculpture using various hand building and decorating techniques. £25 including materials and firing costs.
She will be giving a talk about her career and the residency on Friday 4 September (10.30-11.30am).
A selling show of Lorraine’s work including many new pieces produced for the residency will open on Saturday 5 September and run until 3 October.
