Man fined £1,346 following investigation of dumped waste
Krzysztof Huryn, 29 years, of Wytham Way, Aylesbury, Bucks pleaded guilty at Wycombe Magistrates Court on 13 April 2016 to an offence of dumping waste illegally.
The court heard that on 2 September 2015 a member of the public found waste dumped on Sedrup Lane, off the A418 to the west of Aylesbury. He examined the waste and called investigators from the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire. The waste was found to be a single sack of Huryn’s household waste.
The waste was photographed and examined for evidence of origin. Details found within the dumped waste led the investigators to speak to Huryn.
When interviewed, Huryn confirmed it was his own household waste. He admitted dumping the waste but said he could not remember doing so. He knew dumping was wrong and could neither recall in detail what had happened nor could he justify or explain what he had done.
The Magistrates fined Huryn £860, and ordered clean-up and prosecution costs to be paid in the sum of £400. A victim surcharge of £86 was also levied – making a total to pay of £1,346.
Warren Whyte, Buckinghamshire County Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment and Vice-Chairman of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire said: “The sizeable fine handed down in this case for the dumping of a relatively small amount of rubbish shows how unacceptable this behaviour isin our community. We will continue to pursue people who do this, and prosecute them wherever possible.”
