View from the Chair
WPC is always looking at possible improvements to the look of Wendover, the facilities we offer and sustainability. One project that we’re researching at the moment seems to tick all three of these boxes. We want to refurbish the area next to the clocktower, where the water fountain once was. As an area it could look great and provide a source of potable water for those with their own water bottles, which could reduce the plastic usage in the Parish. Wherever I mention this idea I get really positive comments. So, let’s hope we can get this one done.

By now the Best Kept Village judges have run the rule over Wendover again. Fingers crossed for another successful outcome. I’d like to thank all our staff and councillors who have worked hard to make Wendover look its best. Most of all I’d like to thank the business owners, the individuals and the organisations who have helped. Particularly the Wendover WI who have taken on the planting outside Istanbul. Thanks.

It is unfortunate that Wendover Chamber of Trade and Commerce has had to cease operations. Wendover businesses may well need a voice during the construction of HS2. The WPC has resolved to designate a business champion; Cllr. Nicky Gregory has taken on the role, and we will be talking to some business leaders about their issues.

Throwing Litter from Vehicles
Litter spoils our village and environment, attracting pests and encouraging others to litter. It can include anything from a cigarette butt, chewing gum, a crisp packet to a bag of rubbish. It also includes food waste, even though this may rot down over time. Wendover does appear litter free on most occasions which is due to the good work by the AVDC Street cleaner and the WPC grounds team.

We do have a particular issue with litter along South Street/London Road and a resident has reported issues along the brook at Halton Lane. This is due to litter being thrown from vehicles. Anyone who drops litter is committing a crime, this includes throwing litter from vehicles. If you litter you can be prosecuted in the courts and fined up to £2,500. Let’s all strive to be Litter Heroes in Wendover!

Agenda Setting
If you have an item that you wish to be discussed by Wendover Parish Council, please contact the Clerk with details of the issue and where possible your expected outcome. The agenda for Parish Council meetings is set one week in advance. Any item received with less notice will be held over to the following month. Agendas are displayed on the Parish Council noticeboards at the Library, Clock Tower, Ashbrook Park and the play park at Princess Mary Gate and published on our website, address below.

Charity Event Signage – Sign Permit General Conditions
There are several conditions when erecting Charity Event Signage around the village. Did you know that signs should be freestanding and on no account are they to be attached to road signs, lamp columns, street furniture, etc. There are public notice boards at Ashbrook Open Space and the Library and charities/non-profit organisations can also book the Clock Tower window to advertise events. Please visit www.wendover-pc.gov.uk/post/charity-event-signage to read the full list of conditions.
