View from the Chair
A Parish Council with a significant spend, Wendover’s is around £300k a year, can make a positive difference to the community. It does this best when it listens. Which is why I’m so interested in our steadily growing Facebook identity. Facebook, if you can avoid the silliness, is a really useful way to share information. Who’d have known. The new website is also packed full with useful information on our campaigns, services and facilities. While these essential channels of communication are delivering their magic I remain a bit old school. That’s why I enjoyed meeting so many visitors face to face on our clocktower open day. Hundreds came and it wasn’t just the free ice cream that drew them. I lost count of the number of people who told me, “I’ve lived in Wendover for X number of years and I’ve always wanted to come in here,” for some it was all of their lives. I’m glad we could make that happen and I’m hopeful that we can do it again next year.

Drainage is becoming an issue for Wendover. An enormous volume of water that falls on our roads can’t find it’s way into the clogged up drains. Areas flood today that never flooded when I was a lad and it’s creating a risk to property and a hazard to all road users. With your help we might be able to get some action. If you see drains blocked and large puddles forming contact Transport for Bucks on https://www.fixmystreet.buckscc.gov.uk. You can report issues, see other reports, check on progress and even upload photos of the problem. Let’s put pressure on the system before poor drainage damages our roads and footpaths even more.

On the same day as our clocktower open day, Lola’s litter pick took place and what a difference it made. I’d like to thank all of the kids, parents and teachers who made the event a success. Also my thanks to the businesses and people who supported on the day.
Tom Walsh, Chair, Wendover Parish Council

Responding to the suggestions raised at the Clock Tower Open Day
On 21 September Wendover Parish Council hosted an Open Day at the Clock Tower. The event was well received with the community having a chance to engage with Councillors and the office staff while the children had a look around the Clock Tower and enjoyed their free ice creams. Wendover Parish Council promoted an interactive board at the Open Day, which allowed the community to make suggestions or highlight any concerns they may have. We have collated the information received, some of which will have to be passed to AVDC or BCC, but for issues raised that we can fix, be assured they will be addressed.

Winter Policy
With winter on its way, Wendover Parish Council would like to highlight the Winter Policy which can be found on the policies page on our website at www.wendover-pc.gov.uk/policies. Here you will find top tips on how to manage and prevent situations unique to winter such as leaf fall, clearing snow, dealing with ice and gritting.

Agenda and Minutes
Don’t forget all our meeting agendas and minutes can be found on our website. Here are some recent updates:
The zip wire and tyre swing are back in use, following the recent playground repairs
Councillors are now using tablets at meetings to reduce paper waste
All the streetlights at Princess Mary Gate will be upgraded to LEDs, we are hoping that the project will be completed before Christmas
Additional water butts have been installed at Hogtrough Lane allotments
The Play around the Parish events were deemed a success and it has been agreed that two events will be held in 2020.
We welcome any feedback you have on our website or Facebook page, details below!

Look out for your Neighbour
If you know a neighbour lives alone, make a point of popping in and seeing if they need anything during the winter months. You might find that they need a little company and knowing that someone cares and can be called on in an emergency can really make all the difference.
