More sessions to help people get online
Extra sessions for people wanting to gain basic computer skills are being run by Aylesbury Library, thanks to a Government grant through the Tinder Foundation.
The library currently runs four one-hour sessions a week, and the £1,250 grant will pay for an extra two sessions on Thursday afternoons until the end of March.
Gina Nicholls, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Information and Learning Services Manager, said there would be capacity for 75 people.
The sessions, she said,would open a wide range of training from learning how to apply for a job online, filling in Government forms, to reading e-books, and even keeping in touch with family overseas by Skype.
Martin Phillips, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Public Health, said: ‘This is really good ground floor training that will enable people to get on the first rung of the digital ladder, and help them to take advantage of the online services available today.’
Similar sessions are run on Wednesdays and Fridays at Chesham Library, and funding is being sought to extend sessions to High Wycombe.
