Myeloma UK & Cancer Research Charity BBQ 2016
On Saturday 30 July we held a Charity BBQ & Music night at the Mediterranean Nursery in Bovingdon to raise money for two charities: Myeloma UK & Cancer Research. Myeloma UK is a charity set up to raise funds for and awareness of Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow.
Every year Stuart and Debbie hold a fundraising event in memory of Debbie’s late mother Eve Freeman. This is our 3rd joint venture so we can raise money for Myeloma UK and Cancer Research. We areextremely grateful to be given the opportunity and would like to thank Stuart & Debbie Oastler and Lynn Hindley, without whom it would not be possible.
We had a fantastic evening.. great food, great music and an awful lot of support from people coming from all over the Chilterns!
We contacted shops and organisations in Buckinghamshire & Hertfordshire and were amazed at just how kind and resourceful the local community is. We got some great raffle prizes from balloon rides, theatre tickets, passes for Woburn Safari Park, vouchers for the Snow Centre, Kidzone, Zoomania, family passes for Hughenden Manor and Waddesdon Manor, green fees for Ley Hill Golf Club, great tickets at the Comedy Loft, Chesham Comedy Club, and many more generous donations details of which will be put on the Mediterranean Nursery website.
All this, without a shadow of a doubt, helped enormously with the fundraising. The Hog Roast and BBQ food was supplied at cost price by Fyfe’s Butchers of Bovingdon, so a huge thank you to them.
I am pleased to say we raised £3,110.00which is great news for both charities. With ongoing support from our local community we will continue to raise awareness and fundraise, and look forward to our next event in 2017.
