New challenge for local hospice supporters

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity have announced a new hiking challenge for supporters next summer.

Following successful fundraising hikes along the Ridgeway in 2021 and 2022 which raised over £80,000 to support local hospice care, the new challenge heads further south to tackle the South Downs Way next June.

The route will cover 80 miles in four days along ancient tracks and along the white chalky cliffs of the south coast.  Hikers will be supported through their training and along the route by experienced trek leaders, XNRG.

“Recent hikes have had an amazing atmosphere – walkers have many different motivations for taking on a challenge and over the four days we see them really bond together as a group, supporting each other through the difficult patches and cheering each other on at the finishes each day,” says Bill Richards, Events Fundraiser at the charity.

The South Downs Hike will take place from 8th – 11th June 2022.

The charity is holding two information evenings next month for supporters to find out more about the challenge.  The first Information Evening takes place on Tuesday 1st November from 7pm at their offices in Aylesbury.  A virtual Information Evening will take place on Wednesday 30th November from 7pm.
