NEWS FROM THE LORD LIEUTENANT OF BUCKINGHAMSHIRE: New Deputy Lieutenant appointments announced
Four new Deputy Lieutenants of Buckinghamshire have been appointed, each of them honoured for their positive contributions to the county by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, who signed their Commissions on 15 November 2018. Deputy Lieutenants are appointed by the Lord Lieutenant, at his discretion, subject only to Her Majesty The Queen not disapproving of the granting of the commission.
The new Deputy Lieutenants are:
- Mrs Joanna Barclay
- Dr Sheena Dykes
- His Honour Judge Francis Sheridan
- Mrs Mary Tuckett
Deputy Lieutenants assist the Lord Lieutenant work to support voluntary and community activities in Buckinghamshire. They also participate in civic and social activities, Citizenship Ceremonies and Armed Forces events (including representing the Lord-Lieutenant at Remembrance Day events).
Sir Henry said: “We welcome these new Deputy Lieutenants whose experience will further reinforce the effectiveness and diversity of the Lieutenancy.
“They will be joining an outstanding network of men and women whose role it is to support the Monarchy by upholding the dignity of the Crown and support Buckinghamshire, its unique history and culture, by serving its communities and contributing positively to its future.”
He added: “These appointments are important because the Lieutenancy plays a major role as an effective independent force for good in Buckinghamshire.”
