News from Wendover Bowls Club, late spring 2019
Great excitement, our new mower has arrived! It is a big investment for us as we have had to find a chunk of money, even though we were helped out by the LionelAbel-Smith Trust. Later in the summer we also hope to get a roller, which will ensure our green will be one of the best in the county. Now we look forward to our outdoor season with fingers crossed for a decent summer.
Our pre-season dinner was a great success. More than sixty members sat down to a fine meal and social evening. Lots of chatter and banter, and hilarity. One table seemed to win more than their fair share of raffle prizes, to the extent that they got so embarrassed they gave away most of their remaining tickets before the end.
Our first outdoor match is on April 20th. We will all be a bit rusty, but then so will the opposition. At least we have a couple of weeks to get some practice in. Don’t forget our open evenings on Fridays throughout May. Come along and give it a go, you will be most welcome.
