No need to do it your-shelf with Barratt and David Wilson Homes
Five star homebuilders Barratt and David Wilson Homes are inviting Buckinghamshire house hunters to down tools for a DIY amnesty during New Homes Week (May 14th to 20th) and consider the advantages of a new home.
75% of residents living in the county admit they would spend up to £5,000 on DIY, a survey conducted by the local developer has revealed.
Barratt Homes Northampton and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, which are both building new homes at a range of developments across the county suggest people should take a look at their selection of properties to see a home that’s ready to move into with no additional work necessary.
Newly released research from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) has revealed that homebuyers who choose to upgrade an older property to the same standard as a new home could end up spending more than £45K on modernising, and there are other benefits to buying new besides costs.
DIY home improvements often don’t go to plan, resulting in further work, additional expense and in extreme cases; it can lead to personal injuries.
When purchasing a home on the second hand market, there may be a number of upgrades still needed at the property, but with Barratt and David Wilson Homes each house is all set for the perfect living space.
Alison Raine, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “There are a number of benefits to buying a new home that we would like homebuyers to consider.
“From the results of our survey, we learned residents in the county were willing to spend a large amount of money on DIY improvements, but with one of our new-build properties, everything is already prepared for the homebuyer.”
Jackie Day, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, added: “Buying a brand new home means you can move in straight away without any DIY needing to be done and you’re guaranteed a quality home which is energy efficient and has lower maintenance costs.
“We offer a range of low deposit schemes, discounts and a Part Exchange service which very often help people move house or get on the property ladder where otherwise they might not have been able to.”
Rather than facing potential DIY disasters, homeowners and first-time buyers alike are encouraged to visit any of the housebuilders developments during New Homes Week to discover a new DIY-free home.
