Notice of Temporary Road Closure – A413 Wendover Bypass
High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain. We continually reviewing the works on our construction sites in line with Government and Public Health England (PHE) advice on dealing with COVID-19. The Government’s current strategy makes it clear that construction activity can continue as long as it complies with this guidance. Please be assured that only sites that can operate within the guidelines are operational. All sites will remain under constant review. You can sign up for regular updates in your local area at

What Are We Doing?
To create safer access to the Green Tunnel North Portal, we are planning a local road closure overnight. As the work requires our workforce and machinery to be working on the carriageway, we are required to fully close the road for the safety of road users and our staff.
The works will involve the narrowing the northbound and southbound carriageway lanes in order to improve the safety of the access to our compound at the layby on the northbound carriageway. As we will be slightly amending the road layout, we will be amending the white lining. At the end of the project the Wendover bypass will be fully reinstated.
When will these works take place?
To reduce the inconvenience to road users, these works will take place from 7pm on the evening of Monday 9th August the road will reopened on Tuesday 10th August at 6am. We are hoping to complete the works over a single night however, external factors such as the weather may prevent us from completing these works so for this reason we have also booked a closure from 7pm on Tuesday 10th August to 6am on Wednesday 11th August as a contingency. If the works are completed as scheduled, the second closure will not take place.
