Over 200 people take to the streets of Aylesbury for hospice charity’s festive fun-run
Over 200 eager participants braved arctic conditions on Sunday and took to the streets for the 2022 Aylesbury Santa Dash. The annual event was organised by Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity to bring local communities together for a morning of Christmas fun, all while raising funds to help the charity support even more patients next year. The family friendly fun-run kicked off the festive season in style with dashers sporting their most festive finery.
Despite the freezing conditions, spirits where high with participants dressed in a large variety of festive outfits, enjoying a performance from Bedgrove Junior School Choir and much needed warm-up session from local fitness duo Jonika Fitness.
The event was made possible by the generous support of volunteers, participants, and sponsorship from Alcom IT, APS Accountancy Limited, Dell Motor Services, George David Estate Agents and Kidd Rapinet, with all proceeds from the event going directly to the charity to provide local hospice care.
Cllr Tim Dixon, The Mayor of Aylesbury said:
“Well done to all the Santa’s and the helpers for taking on the freezing conditions on a beautiful bright sunny winter morning! I was delighted to support the charity and wish the dashers all the best as they set off, and congratulate them with a medal and a mince pie on their return.”
Bill Richards, Community Fundraiser for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity added:
“Thank you to everyone who joined us to raise money for such a worthy cause. Your sponsorship and donations mean Florence Nightingale Hospice can be there for more patients and their loved ones whenever and wherever they need them, including this Christmas. “
