Owner of 8 pubs in Bucks serves up Easter Makeaway Feasts to finish at home
Across the country everyone is getting ready for the longed-for, safe return to seeing their friends and families. The Oakman Group which owns eight pubs in Buckinghamshire is also preparing to welcome back their friends and neighbours to a dependable and welcoming setting to enjoy these small, new freedoms – but not until Monday 12th April, a week after a second Easter under lockdown.
However, coinciding with the start of the Easter holidays, the promised “roadmap” means six people or two households can share time and space from next Monday 29th March, providing they are outside in a private garden.
During lockdown, Oakman’s chefs have been busy producing and delivering hundreds of ‘Makeaway’ meal boxes for their new Oakman at Home range. For Easter lunch, they have introduced a special Easter Feast Makeaway for families and friends to enjoy featuring Oregano marinated Roast Lamb or a Mushroom Wellington and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Their Meal Boxes have been prepped by their chefs, using seasonal, premium quality produce, for customers to add the finishing touches at home. With easy-to-follow instructions, they provide a perfect way to serve an impressive restaurant-quality meal while spending less time in the kitchen. What’s more, every meal is delivered in sustainable, recyclable packaging.
Ross Pike, Oakman’s Chef Director, said: “Lamb is the traditional meat for this time of year, and I’ve chosen lamb rump for our Easter Feast as it is such a flavoursome cut – yet easy to cook. Of course, an Easter lunch doesn’t have to include meat: there are whole roasted Porcini mushrooms at the centre of our Mushroom Wellington, plus Portobellos in a perfect blend of onion, garlic and parsnips. Both dishes are served with fresh Spring vegetables.”
Ross added: “When it comes to dessert, there is sticky toffee pudding, and then there’s our special Oakman recipe sticky toffee pudding. We’ve taken the eggs and flour out and replaced them with sourdough to give a stronger, bigger flavour which works perfectly with the silky toffee sauce.”
The Easter Feast can be upgraded to three or four courses with an Italian-inspired Burrata Mozzarella Salad starter and a Three Cheese Board, plus a selection of wines hand-picked to perfectly pair with the dishes. Easter Feasts are available in multiples of two and four servings and can be ordered with other Oakman at Home dishes for delivery at the same time. They must be ordered by midnight on Monday 29th March. Prices from £35 for two. oakmanathome.co.uk/easter
Friends and families are already making plans to get together in private gardens before and after Easter. An Oakman At Home Makeaway Meal Box such as an Ultimate Burger with triple cooked chips (£22 for two), or a 7oz Dry Aged Sirloin Steak (£36 for two), could help make the most of their time together.
On Monday 12th April, (subject to Government restrictions) Oakman Inns’ pubs and Beech Houses (except the Beech House in Hampton Hill – see list below) will re-open their gardens and terraces with a range of weatherproof and heated seating. Menus, opening and foodservice times will vary, and customers are encouraged to pre-book online or by phone.
