Pavement Parking in Wendover
A local Wendover News reader has brought it to our attention that pavement parking is causing distress to many local walkers and users of walking aids (sticks, frames or motorised aids), as well as those with visual impairments.
Outside London, pavement parking is not illegal, but it is also not recommended (Highway Code, rule 245). Local councils have powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to restrict or prohibit parking on individual streets by making a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), but this takes time.
A survey by the charity Guide Dogs in 2015 showed that 72% of people had been affected by pavement parking. An earlier survey revealed that 69% would support a ban on it. Guide Dogs has recently started a new petition to ban pavement parking, which can be found at the URL in this link:
