Acclaimed Photographer Gains Top Qualification
Chris Harper, Chief Executive of the British Institute of Professional Photography, was awarded a Fellowship for his work in Fitness Photography. A Fellowship of BIPP is one of the most highly desired accolades in professional photography and is only awarded to the very best in the profession. What makes this qualification so remarkable is that this is Chris’ second Fellowship, the first being awarded in 2008 in Photographic Management. Coming just days before his 40th birthday, this makes him the youngest Fellow in the country to gain two Fellowships.
Chris believes it is an important part of his role as Chief Executive and a Qualifications Assessor to advise, support, and encourage up-and-coming photographers not only to gain qualifications but to strive to be the very best in their field and to continue to push the creative boundaries. Chris runs a photographic business, The Photographer’s Portfolio (www.thephotographersportfolio.com) specialising in fitness, portraiture & model folio photography, from his home in Buckinghamshire. He has been a professional photographer for over 20 years and has been instrumental in leading the BIPP, the qualifying body for professional photography, into the forward-thinking organisation it is today.
To ensure complete anonymity, Chris’ qualification submission was completely devoid of identifying information and the group of Assessors was unaware of his identity until after successfully awarding the Fellowship. Interest in Fitness Photography is surging. With information on nutrition and fitness being more and more readily available, men and women are working hard to maintain a high level of fitness. Those who are at the peak of fitness often develop a portfolio, to illustrate their achievements. Chris Harper is an expert in the lighting and composition of this highly technical area of professional photography.
BIPP (www.bipp.com) is the official qualifying body for professional photographers in the UK, supporting all disciplines of photography, from weddings to forensics. At the forefront of the photographic profession BIPP mentors, trains, qualifies and supports professional photographers.
