Police Now academy, Abdullah Rafie: on the policing frontline for the first time with Thames Valley Police
Abdullah, originally from the Middle East, is currently training at Police Now’s seven-week residential academy before he permanently joins Thames Valley Police for the remainder of the two-year programme and beyond. Whilst on the programme, he will also work towards his Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University.
He was selected out of thousands of applicants to the programme, which recruits, trains, and develops outstanding graduates to become leaders in society and on the policing frontline.
Abdullah has been sharing his ongoing experiences of Police Now’s academy and today tells us about his ‘field training’ shifts with Thames Valley Police’s Response team, where he was immersed into the realities of frontline policing. Alongside his colleagues, he responded to a range of 999 calls including assault, theft and domestic violence incidents.
