PTI raises funds for three charities
Physical Training Instructor, Cpl Andy Carroll, has held two fundraising nights for charities close to his heart. The RAF Benevolent Fund, Cancer Choices, based in Donaghmore, Northern Ireland and The Oxygen Therapy Centre based in Larne, Northern Ireland, all supported his family during his late Mother’s battle with Cancer, she passed away in January of this year.
Andy said: “I decided to complete a Red Bull 400, running up a ski jump in Planica, Slovenia to represent her uphill battle. It’s a 400m run up a ski jump with a 37 degree incline and a 202m elevation, which I ran on Saturday the 15th September.
“I have been crowdfunding since June and held two fundraising nights, one for Servicemen Awaiting Trade Training (SATTs) on 8 August and a sports quiz and raffle for all ranks on the 13th Sep at the Junior Ranks Bar. Prizes included: England Football tickets; Go Ape tickets and vouchers from The Works; Haringtons; Sanctum Spiritus; Kings Farm Shop; Nando’s; GBK; Pets Corner; Cross Cuts Barbers, Red Gents Barbers, all donated locally. The grand total raised from these two nights plus an Recruit Training Squadron Bake Sale was over £1500.
Andy has raised £4100 of his £6000 target so if you would like to find out more about his story you can read it at:
