Queen’s 90th Birthday Party
Everyone is very welcome to join Tring’s party for the Queen’s 90th birthday taking place in and around St Peter and St Paul on Saturday 11th June.
From 5pm come and make some new friends at the Royal Tea Party with tea & cake, a Spring photo exhibition, live music, children’s activities and excellent company. And, probably most regal of all, you will have the chance to tour “Yarn Bombing for the Queen” that will be exhibited on Church Square.
Yarn Bombing for the Queen is being brought to Tring by many of the 2015 team, led by new comer John Cole-Morgan. They have had great fun meeting up regularly to plan a knitted tea party, with their last meeting on 1st June. Join the FB group “Tring Yarn Bomb – the Queen” to join the group.
At 7pm there will be a Celebration Service in the church, featuring the “Tring Park 16” who recently won the Songs of Praise Choir of the Year. This will be “Tring Park 16”’s first performance in their home town since winning the TV competition.
From Liz Norris – Musical Director at Tring Park School “The Tring Park 16 are a small mixed voice choir made up mostly of 6th form pupils who specialise in Musical Theatre, Dance or Drama as their vocational pathway. We rehearse at lunchtimes, around their timetables, and their success is a credit to their talent, dedication and commitment to choir. The choir recently won the Songs of Praise Senior School Choir of the Year competition, which was filmed at the end of February and was aired on BBC1 during April. They competed against 5 other choirs in the semi final, and 2 others in the final. The standard was very high across the choirs and we were delighted to have won. We are singing our winning song “Daniel, Daniel” in the service on 11th June”
At 8-9.30pm there will be a BBQ and Tring Brewery Beer in the churchyard, ending with three cheers for her majesty and the lighting of our celebration beacon on the church roof. The evening’s festivities will also raise money for local charity Chilterns MS.
