RAF Halton Annual Formal Reception
On Wednesday 13 July, RAF Halton’s Station Commander, Group Captain Startup hosted the Annual Formal Reception, which due to the pandemic, was the first in over 2 years.
Guests from the local and wider community attended the event and were welcomed with a reception. They also experienced a flypast of two C17 aircraft over Halton House and a Sunset Ceremony which was delivered by members of the RAF Regiment. The evening was set against a backdrop of incidental music played by a saxophone quartet from the RAF Halton Voluntary Band.
With display stands that focussed on the heritage of both Halton House and the Halton House Gardens, the event gave the attendees the opportunity to mix and mingle with Officers currently serving at RAF Halton, whilst also absorbing the history of the beautiful surroundings.
The guest of honour was The High Sheriff Of Buckinghamshire, Debbie Brock DL, who said: “It was an honour to take part in the very moving Sunset Ceremony and to witness the two Hercules fly past, a memory that will stay with me for all time. I am filled with admiration and respect for our armed forces”.
Station Commander, Group Captain Startup said: “The Annual Reception demonstrated the RAF’s commitment to the local community as a bedrock of society. The integration of the whole force, their families and the community is essential for the support required to allow the RAF to deliver operational effect, both at home and overseas. I am immensely proud of how much Halton contributes to the wider fabric of the Nation and also deeply grateful for support the Station receives in turn”.
